A Travellerspoint blog

A Busy day around Banff

Last night after we had done the blog in Starbucks we returned to the site and walked to the Hoodoos , a short walk from the campground. These are strange rock formations overlooking the Bow river and were formed during the glaciation period.
Started today with a visit to Lake Minnewanka. Very picturesque, when the sun came out the water was a beautiful turquoise. Then drove to the Vermilion lakes for a picnic lunch. These were disappointing with little colour to them. We then parked in the town and walked to the Cave and Basin, the original hot springs that gave rise to the town of Banff. These were over the river and quite a long walk in the hot sun, so when we got back to town we had a milk shake each which we had promised Chris who had seen an advert for the café “Shakes”.
Back to the campground and started to pack our cases as tomorrow is our last night in the RV on the outskirts of Calgary before a couple of nights in a hotel there.
